Cycling is
a great way for me to get out some pent-up energy after sitting at a desk
all week, and it keeps me healthy. I like the fact that I can go ride,
forget about day to day things, and enjoy being outside.
In Mark’s first year of racing at the track, he was selected as most
improved rider by the Alkek Velodrome, and was the 2005 Track 30+ Texas
State Champ, since then he has participated in the 2006 Track Nationals, and
has had good results in a few road races as well. Currently, he would like
to focus on how to make team oriented decisions during a race that will
benefit his teammates, he’d also like to try out Cyclocross, and hopes to
upgrade to a Cat II at the Track this year.
As a kid, riding a bike was just a way for Mark to get around and hang out
with his friends, then at age 34 he rode in a Velodrome for the first time,
and was hooked. He is more of a sprinter, and prefers the short sprint
oriented races that the track has to offer, as well as criteriums.
As a newlywed, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife Angelica, and on
occasion has been spotted tearing up the roads with her on the tandem (aka -
the long bike), or helping support her training for the Houston Marathon. He
also plays guitar, and loves grilling. |
