Gary
started cycling when his older brother removed the training wheels from his
bike and pushed him down the driveway of a friends house. Not unlike today,
he crashed when he ran into the curb on the other side of the street. "It
seemed like it took forever but I made it home on my own."
"I'm brand new to bike racing after many years running marathons while
mixing in the occasional du and tri (I'm one of those who sinks instead of
floats so swimming is way too much work). The last few years I've tried some
ultras as a means to push myself a little harder. As far as racing goes I
have a lot to learn but couldn't ask for a better group of teammates to
teach me. My goal is to get better every ride and have a blast doing it."
Gary helps plan and lead the weekly Saturday morning rides for the Webster
Bicycle group. "It's quite an experience to see someone new to cycling get
hooked." When he's not out playing, Gary works for a local chemical company.
