Louisiana-Mississippi District
Track Cycling Championship
By Mark Griffin
March 24 & 25, 2007 -- Although few showed at the
Louisiana-Mississippi District Track Championships this past weekend, it was
still a hard fought battle. My flying 200m was as slow as a tot on a trike
but still qualified me for the sprints which I placed second by a tires
width. Being the only Texan there they unleashed attack after attack in the
points race. I was able to cover and counter every attack winning all but
one of the six sprints giving me the overall in the LAMBRA Points
Championship. But that is where it all went down hill. I don't know if it
was their plan from the start to beat me down in the second race or not but
either way it worked.
I posted my fastest ever 4k pursuit time but it was only good enough for
second by 2.13 seconds. In the Kilo again I posted my best time ever but
missed first again by a mere .16 seconds. Damn I hate that clock!!!!!!!
The day was a long one leaving Houston at 3am and getting back home around
11pm, but it revealed some invaluable lessons and that is what
the whole day was about.
Cat1/2 LAMBRA Sprint District Championship 2nd
Cat1/2 LAMBRA Points District Championship 1st
Cat1/2 LAMBRA Pursuit District Championship 2nd
Cat1/2 LAMBRA Kilo District Championship 2nd
Everyone there was very friendly and look forward to racing at Alkek in the
near future.
